The Hyperacusis Wall of Remembrance is a virtual memorial dedicated to the people whose lives were altered by the auditory condition hyperacusis. This memorial is not complete, some people remain anonymous as requested by their family, others are lost to history. If you are a relative or a close friend of a person listed here and wish to reach us for any reason, or if you see a person missing from the wall, please contact us below.

You Are Not Alone

Hyperacusis can be a devastating and isolating condition, and the stigma around it only serves to divide us further. However, you are not alone in this. If you have tried to seriously hurt yourself or end your life, please call your local crisis line right away or go to your nearest emergency department. If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, call or text the corresponding helpline for your country in the list below. The Suicide Crisis Helpline can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by call or text in both English or French.

The Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is a 24-hour, toll-free, confidential suicide prevention hotline available to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. It provides Spanish-speaking counsellors, as well as options for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. A 24-hour online chat service is also available.

Shout is the UK's first free 24/7 text service for anyone in crisis anytime, anywhere. It is a place to go for those struggling to cope and in need of immediate help. Shout is an affiliate of the Crisis Text Line in the U.S.

SOS Amitié is a French federation of several regional charitable organizations aimed at providing emotional support to anyone in emotional distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide. The service is free, anonymous, and confidential. An online chat and messaging service is also available.

Telefonseelsorge is a predominantly volunteer-run helpline for people with concerns about their mental health. It serves as a crisis service directly for suicide prevention and is accessible around the clock. It also offers an advisory service by email or chat.

Telefono Amico Italia is a volunteer-run suicide prevention hotline to help people with overcoming emotional distress. It offers an anonymous service, every day from 9am to 12am. The service is free and is also available by online chat.

The Osaka Suicide Prevention Center is a volunteer-run organization whose goal is to provide emotional support to people who are thinking about suicide or who are in distress. It offers an anonymous service from Friday at 1pm - Sunday 10pm. An online chat service is also available.

Lifeline is a 24-hour nationwide service that provides access to crisis support, suicide prevention and mental health support services. It provides service through phone, chat, and text 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
